Dan Sickbert, 1942-2001

Dan Sickbert, 1942-2001

Dan Sickbert died on May 25, 2001. After graduating from East High, he attended Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg. In 1963, he married Sharon Hunt, also a student at Central Missouri State.

Dan worked in the beer industry. He joined the Joseph Schlitz company in 1967 and was appointed District Sales Manager in Wichita in 1968. As the cost of beer rose in 1974, he was quoted in a Wheeling, Illinois, newspaper as explaining that the price hike was directly related to the cost of raw materials. “Grains, cans, bottles, and paper are all up in price. Cans alone are up more than 25%,” he said.

By 1981, he was working as the Northeast Division Sales Director for Schlitz, a 20-state region bordered by Wisconsin, Illinois, Maine,  and North Carolina.

Danny was my best friend in first grade. We would ride our bikes together on the sidewalk.
