Senior Prom, 1960
Nat King Cole, “Fascination” https://youtu.be/kvhqkkBPZb0 . Lee: The Senior Class Officers selected “Fascination” as the theme for our Senior prom, although I was the only one who was familiar with the song. My dad used to play this song, a lot, on the piano at home. We had a dance orchestra perform at the prom, and they were quite familiar with the song. (Above, Dressed for Prom, Echoes)
Frank Sinatra, “Strangers in the Night” https://youtu.be/ZwAERaRUsp0 Lee and David Kroenlein reminisced about the singer and the song. David: Sinatra was incredible, even when his voice lost range and clearness. His phrasing and diction were impeccable. Nelson Riddle arrangements were key throughout much of his career. We used to hear a lot of “New York, New York” while leaving MSG and Yankee Stadium, but it’s been awhile for me to hear that.” Lee: Indeed. Shelley and I heard the song at Yankee Stadium, too, on September 11, 2002, the 1st anniversary of the 9-11 event.
Tony Bennett and Diana Krall, “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” https://youtu.be/ZogFMxidChM Lee: The lyric “we may never, never meet again on the way to the bumpy road to love” seems relevant to our high school days.
Tony Bennett, “The Very Thought of You” https://youtu.be/dlrZ9D2V08Q
Nat King Cole/Natalie Cole, “Unforgettable” https://youtu.be/DhpmxjRXneY Lee: The song my daughter Ashley and I danced to at her wedding.”
Ella Fitzgerald with Louis Armstrong, “Moonlight in Vermont” https://youtu.be/hIjt-pTvMRY Lee: Nice accompaniment by Louis Armstrong.

Nice collection, Lee. I know the song, “Fascination.”
Johnny Mathis is my ultimate fave. Sinatra is good, but Johnny has better sensitivity and range. It’s a throw-down, David K!
If you want romantic ballads, Google “Open Fire, Two Guitars.” I played this album through the ’60s and the ’70s. Daughter later gave me a cd so I could keep on listening.
