“Bill” Taylor 1941 – 2023
William Everett Taylor, Jr., affectionately called “Bill,” was born October 8, 1941, to William Everett Taylor, Sr. and Juanita Marie Williams in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He was called to his final resting place on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
Bill received his formal education from Wichita Public Schools, graduating from East High School in 1960.
He worked at Boeing and after 38 years of dedicated service, he retired to start a new chapter in his life.
Bill was a faithful member of the Brotherhood Presbyterian Church where he served as Minister of Music for a number of years. At the time of his death, he was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed the company of his family and many dear friends. These relationships were very important to him and he loved each and every one of them. When he couldn’t be with family, he often spent the holidays and other special occasions with his friends. Bill was a member of ARISE Ensemble which performed all over the country, inspiring all with their music and storytelling. He truly had a passion for God and music, so being a part of this group was a gift that he treasured.
Bill enjoyed beautiful art and had an extensive collection of lovely pieces. He also enjoyed being in the kitchen preparing delicious meals and desserts.
While he is no longer here with us on earth, we know that to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord. He is now resting in eternal peace.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Geneva Marie Taylor-Rawlins, and his niece, Marie Bernadine Butler. He is survived by his special sister, Etta K. Whittaker, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of cherished friends.
Melvyn Richardson remembers – Bill was a lifelong friend; we were next door neighbors starting in kindergarten at Will Rogers in Planeview. And we always stayed in touch, I saw him on my last visit to Wichita in 2019.
