April Fools’!
One of the years I was at East, I arrived at school early on April Fools’ Day. I was walking down the hall on the second floor when two girls ran screaming from the restroom, yelling “Get the custodian! Get the custodian!” Several students who were nearby came to see what the problem was, and when other girls entered the restroom, they found that every toilet had a piece of moss and a goldfish swimming in it! The custodian soon arrived, and the girls told him he needed a net and a bucket to rescue the poor goldfish so the toilets could be used before school started. The custodian smiled, entered the restroom, flushed all the toilets, and told the girls to have a good day on his way out!

Teahouse and the Goat
The Drama Department’s production of The Teahouse of the August Moon our senior year was challenging for those of us who worked behind the scenes. Not only did we have a Jeep onstage, but we had a live goat to contend with during the dress rehearsal and the performances. I still don’t want to know all that the guys fed it, but the goat started doing its business up and down the hall behind the auditorium during one of the performances. Finding it hilarious, but not knowing what to do with the poop, the stagehands, who shall remain unnamed, scooped up the poop and started putting it, through the vents, in the lockers along the hall. I never did hear what the reaction was from the students who received the “gifts,” but if you were one of them, I apologize on behalf of those involved!!
Editor’s Note: If you were one of the “guilty” involved in either of the above incidents, it’s confession time, sans punishment. We welcome other stories of incidents you recall from our time at East.
