Wayne Sellers, 1942 – 2021
Wayne C. Sellers was born July 7, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, to the union of Rosalind and Melvin Berry. He passed away October 6, 2021, in Kansas City.
Wayne was educated in the Wichita Public Schools. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and later transferred to the U.S. Marine Corps. After his service to the United States, Wayne returned to Wichita, where he married. To this union, two children were born, Stephanie and Wayne II. (Left, Wayne in 1960)
Wayne graduated from Wichita State University. He then moved his family to Kansas City, Missouri, where his third child, Melody, was born. Once settled in Kansas City, Wayne started his own Certified Public Accounting firm. He later opened two additional offices in Washington, D.C. and Wichita, Kansas. (Right, Wayne at WSU in 1971)
Wayne was a very well-known and respected businessman, earning him the honor of Small Business Man of the Year. Through changes in life, Wayne was divorced and later entered into a civil partnership to which his daughter Ashton was born.
Wayne enjoyed the great outdoors. He was an avid snow skier, water skier, and loved taking his boat to the lake where he enjoyed many activities with his loved ones.
Wayne leaves to cherish his memory three daughters: Stephanie Sellers (Calo), Melody Harton (Kenneth), and Ashton Rose Sellers; one son, Wayne C. Sellers II (Irene); 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
Services for Mr. Sellers will be held 11:00 A. M. Monday, October 11, 2021, at Saint Augustine’s Episcopal Church. Private disposition.
