Margo Looney was a member of the American Red Cross teams of young female college graduates who were sent to Southeast Asia to conduct recreation programs for men stationed in isolated regions of the area. These visits helped break the monotony for the hard-working service men. It is estimated that these women, who traveled by jeep, truck, and helicopter, logged over 2,125,000 miles during the program’s 7-year history.
In our senior year of high school, Margo, with her beautiful voice, delivered a memorable performance as Bess in Porgy and Bess. She was so talented that she must have been memorable for the troops.
Margo is shown here in Da Nang, South Vietnam in 1967. We salute you, Margo!
