Jerry Jones, 1942-2013

Jerry Jones, 1960

Jerold R. Jones, “Jerry,” 72, passed away Sunday March 31, 2013, at home. Jerry was born August 14, 1940, in Butler, MO to Ralph Dee and Beulah Marjorie (Wells) Jones. He was raised in Wichita, KS, graduated from Wichita High School East in 1960.

Jerry served in the US Air Force, then worked at Cessna and Yingling Aircraft. Jerry moved to Gunnison, CO in 1981 where he worked as an A&P mechanic for TransColorado Airlines, for himself and for Gunnison Valley Aviation.

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, loved four-wheeling and was a member of the Gunnison Sportsman’s Association and the NRA.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Angela Blevins of Wichita; daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Bill West of Gunnison; grandson, Sheldon Blevins of Wichita; great-grandson, Braydon Blevins of Wichita; and brother, Roger Jones of Buckeye, AZ.

At Jerry’s request, there was no service. Memorial donations may be sent to the NRA and the Gunnison Sportsman’s Association.

Editor’s Note: Jerry was a photographer for the Echoes 1960, the East High yearbook. The yearbook includes hundreds of photos taken by Jerry and other yearbook photographers. They took photos, developed them in a first floor dark room, enlarged and edited as needed. In the photo at left, he and Elaine Hill, Pictures Editor, are watching Mike Quinn ’61 as he works on an enlargement. There was no Photoshop in the “good old days.”
