Tom Vosper, About the Zooming Aces

Tom Vosper

I so much enjoy reading what the “Zooming Aces” have to say. I wish more than a dozen classmates would participate. I tried it once and it went well and really have no excuse for not doing it again.

I think having a different format each time is a good idea. Announcing the format before each zoom gives the participants a chance to think over what they want to say.

I think it would be good if the subject for one of the sessions was open. Each person talks about what they want to talk about. I guess the rule would have to be that after a person delivered their talk there could be no discussion because time wouldn’t allow. Just a thought.

So, like many of my classmates I’m down in my lower back and need to do back exercises daily or otherwise deal with discomfort. Lee Ayres said in the last zoom it was extremely difficult for him to do just one pushup, but he managed. This morning while doing my back exercises I started thinking about what he said. I’m thinking he must be WUSSY! I got into pushup position, mentally prepared to rip off a dozen or so when my arms told my brain “it ain’t gonna happen.” Go ahead, you try it. I apologize to Lee in front of all of you and admit I can’t do even one lousy pushup. F—k!

I’m thankful for the “Zooming Aces.”

Editor’s Note – The Wichita East class of 1960 Zoom session takes place on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 2:00pm Wichita time.  An email with specifics (including the link) is always sent a couple of days in advance of the Zoom session.

I remember the sissy push-up we did in girl’s gym class. Basically I also remember the “butt” walk that we did across the gym floor. We sat on the floor in those green bloomer shorts and walked on our fannies—which I now know was part of our geezer training! Having had two knee replacements, I do the geezer walk down the hall to the 2 steps down to my studio area. Sitting at the edge of the top step lets me simply stand up. A big bloody fall at my son’s house was fun. My sons rolled me onto a beach towel and dragged me to a top step. I sat right up with my feet two steps down and stood up! I think our old gym teachers made us practice what they knew might be our future!
