Mary Flowers Miller, 1941-2024
Mary Evelyne (Flowers) Miller, 83, of Rosewood Heights, Illinois, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 10, 1941 in Little Rock, Arkansas, she was raised in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from East High School in 1960. She moved to Rosewood Heights in 1962. She worked for Venture in Alton, and when Grandpa’s bought Venture, she continued her career with them, ultimately finishing at Value City. Mary loved being outside, tending to her garden, going to church, and maintaining her lawn. She was a longstanding member of Whitelaw Avenue Baptist Church in Wood River for 60 years.
Mary is survived by her five children: Karen Rhodes of East Alton, Donna Miller (Mike Woolsey) of Rosewood Heights, Bill Miller of South Roxana, Robert Miller (Cindy Miller) of Wood River, and Darren Miller (Pete Miller) of Rosewood Heights. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Chris Rhodes, Brittany Peterson, Brandy Bardmass, Courtney Shook, Aaron Miller, and Lexie Miller, as well as eleven great-grandchildren, with two more due soon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Agnes Flowers; her brother, Larry Flowers; a nephew, Jim Flowers; and a son-in-law, Mike Rhodes.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 12 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights from 5 p.m. until services begin at 7 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded.
