Margo Looney was a member of the American Red Cross teams of young female college graduates who wer
e sent to Southeast Asia to conduct recreation programs for men stationed in isolated regions of the area. These visits helped break the monotony for the hard-working service men. It is estimated that these women, who traveled by jeep, truck, and helicopter, logged over 2,125,000 miles during the program’s 7-year history.
In our senior year of high school, Margo, with her beautiful voice, delivered a memorable performance as Bess in Porgy and Bess. She was so talented that she must have been memorable for the troops.
