Bill Pinkerton, 1942 – 2010

Bill Pinkerton, 1942-2010

Lynn Walter “Bill” Pinkerton was born April 15, 1942, to Carl and Beulah Pinkerton in Kingman, KS.  After graduating from Wichita East High School, he served honorably in the US Air Force from 1961-1965.  He married Regena L. Simpson on January 7, 1965, in Pea Ridge, Benton, AR.

In the early days of their marriage, Bill could often be found in the garage, utilizing his inventive mind and creating new things.  Some of his adventurous experiments ended in explosions, which kept Regena on her toes.  His experiments included converting a combine to a fork lift and water  to fuel, as well as many creative projects with wrought iron.  In 1968 he designed a computer to receive weather data for the National Center for Atmospheric Research.  According to Bill, the most fulfilling creation in his mortal life was his eternal family.  He often referred to himself as the “tomcat” with his “beautiful kitty and kittens.”  Bill served faithfully throughout the years in his church, serving the Lord to the best of his ability and with his whole heart.  We love you, Dad.  We will miss our “Tomcat.”

Bill died on Friday, September 3, 2010, in Wichita, KS.  He is preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Regena; his four daughters, Bonnie and her six children, Judie and her husband and their nine children, Mary and her husband and their four children, and Kate and her husband and their son; twenty grandchildren; and his first great-grandchild, to be born shortly.

Graveside services will be held September 4, 2010, in Cleveland, KS. with burial at Cleveland Cemetery in Cleveland, KS.
