Phillip Stevens, 1942-1963
Phillip Quentin Stevens, 31, of 607 N. Lorraine, died Sunday, December 1, 1963, after being hospitalized since November 20 when he suffered burns in an accident at Continental Motors, Inc., 332 S. Broadway in Wichita.
Stevens was burned when a plastic container of lacquer thinner exploded in a restroom at Continental Motors, where he was employed. Another worker had been using the thinner to wash walls.
Stevens was born October 13, 1942. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He attended Wichita public schools and graduated from East High School in 1960.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Stevens; his twin brother Rex Patrick; two sisters, Jane and Christine, of the home; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Bengston, McPherson, Kansas.
