Editor’s Note: Gerry’s list of teaching assignments displays an extraordinary range of experiences. He has taught at every level from pre-school to graduate school to alumni programs and in many international locations. Preparing for Teaching

Early Teaching, 1966-74

Summer, 1966   Practice teaching in pre-school on the Big Island of Hawai’i as part of Peace Corps training

1966-7  Teaching public administration and technical English at Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand (Peace Corps)

1967-8  Teaching public administration and technical English at the National Institute of Development Administration, Bangkok, Thailand (Peace Corps)

1967      Teaching English to Buddhist monks at Wat Bouwaniwet, to prepare them for study in India and to officials of Thailand’s Ministry of Interior, to prepare them for overseas study

1969     Teaching at a coaching school, Kanchanathep, to prepare Thai students for taking the TOEFL test

1969-72 Lecturer in international development, University of Oregon

1972-4 Teaching assistant, Stanford University

1973-4  Training Volunteers in Asia, Stanford University

Professor, University of Oregon and in Southeast Asia, 1980-2000

1980-2000          Political science professor teaching primarily International and Asian Studies at the University of Oregon
