Kay Threlfall Pyron, 1942-2018

Kay Ellen (Threlfall) Pyron, loving wife, mother, Grammy and friend, passed away April 25, 2018. She was born July 20, 1942, in Wichita, KS, to Margaret and Thomas Threlfall. She graduated from Wichita High School East and attended Wichita University.

The highlight of her high school years was meeting and interviewing Bob Hope and having their photo in the Eagle-Beacon newspaper. She also wrote a column for the Eagle-Beacon called the “High School Crowd” and the “College Crowd.”

She was a past president of the Catholic Business and Professional Women’s Club. Kay worked as a legal secretary for several years.

One of the greatest joys in Kay’s life was spending time with her precious grandchildren Khloe and Luke. She loved traveling with the love of her life John. Married 53 years, they went on over 25 cruises with family and friends. She loved playing cards and gathering on the drive with neighbors to visit and sometimes ending with an impromptu game of catch phrase. She loved dining out with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Thomas Leo Threlfall, Jr., and James Alfred Threlfall; grandchildren, Nicole Elizabeth Pyron and Benjamin Nicholas Pyron and beloved dog, Lily. Survived by husband, John W. Pyron, Jr.; son, Grant (Karen) Pyron; grandchildren, Luke Pyron and Khloe Pyron; sister, Karen (Jack) Dixon and nephew, Colby (Cheri) Dixon. Kay’s viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 29, and her funeral service 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018, both at Resthaven Mortuary.

Editor’s Note: Many thanks to John Pyron for sharing Kay Ellen’s eulogy.
