Maynard Reid, 1942-2020
Maynard Reid, born June 13, 1942 and died February 28, 2020. He was born to Ayers Maynard Reid and Iola May (Fell) Reid in Ellsworth, KS. He moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1943, where he graduated from East High School in 1960 and 
obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Wichita State University.
On October 12, 1963, he married Mary Lou Lanphere in Wichita, KS. They were blessed with three children, Chrissy, Scott, and Brad. He worked as a purchasing manager in the aircraft/steel industry. Maynard was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as traveling. On February 16, 2020, Maynard celebrated his 14th year of sobriety and dedicated his time to helping/mentoring others with substance abuse.
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brad Reid; sister, Barbara Graham; nephew, Denny Graham; in-laws, Leo and Helena Lanphere. Maynard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lou Reid; children, Chrissy and husband Loren Elsen, Scott and wife, Pam Reid; grandchildren, Reid and wife, Megan Elsen, Sami Elsen, Blake Reid, Eric Reid, Sydney Reid, and Carter Reid; one great grandson, Kaiden Elsen. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 6, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Graveside service will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N. Socora, Wichita, KS 67212 and The Lord’s Diner, 520 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67214.
