Remember that gorgeous yellow convertible that Susie Smith drove to school? We saw it on the streets, in the school parking lot, and in parades. It was a source of car envy! Cars were valuable to us, whether we drove new cars, old cars, or cars that broke down at inconvenient moments. Their importance extended far beyond high school well into our advanced years.
The newest showcase in the 1960 Virtual Reunion’s Gallery features cars, cars, cars. With learners permits available at age 14 and drivers licenses at age 16, most of us were not just eager, but enthusiastic about driving. Gallery Editor Diane Rusch Zinn collected photos from stories on this website of cars we drove, cars we loved, cars we hated, cars we collected, and cars that were important in our lives.
