Donald Dean Lambert, 1942 – 2017

Donald Dean Lambert, DDS., of Kerrville, TX, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 11th, 2017. He was 74 years old.

He was born in Wichita Kansas 9/24/42 to George D. Lambert and Elsie Mae Lambert and graduated from Wichita East High School in 1960. (Right, Don in 1960)

Don attended Wichita State University and graduated from University of Missouri – Kansas City Dental School in 1967. Don then served as a dentist in the Air Force for two years in St. Louis, MO. He was accepted into graduate school and became a periodontist, graduating from UMKC in 1972. Dr. Lambert began his 32-year career as a periodontist in Kansas City, MO until retiring with his wife, Louise, in Kerrville, TX in 2004.

He had a satellite periodontal practice in Jefferson City, MO, which he flew to weekly with his staff. Don was an avid private pilot, a member of the Flying Dentist Association and a volunteer for Angel Flight. Dr. Lambert also volunteered in Kerrville for Meals on Wheels and the Cailloux Humane Society.

Don had many friends that he enjoyed hunting with and also enjoyed many aspects of shooting, including competitions. He was known as ”Dangerous Don” in The Cowboy Action Shooting club.

Dr. Lambert and his wife Louise traveled extensively in their RV with their dogs. Some of their favorite places to visit were Arizona and Missouri to see family. Don enjoyed anything to do with nature, animals and working on his land in Texas, ”haulin’ rocks and cuttin’ cedar.” He was a member of the Calvary Temple Church where he enjoyed the preaching and singing of Pastor Del Way. He was a true patriot and loved God and his country.

Don is survived by his wife, Louise Lambert, of Kerrville; sister Earlene Lambert of Naperville, IL; four children, Andrea Lambert and Stephanie Wortendyke of Scottsdale, AZ, Robert Short of Kansas City, MO and Rick and Staci Short of Smithville, MO; three grandchildren, Avery and Luke Wortendyke and Nick Short.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elsie Lambert.

A Celebration of Life was held on July 29th, 2017 at Calvary Temple Family Life Center in Kerrville, between 10a.m. and 2p.m.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, Don requested donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (directed to Research only) or Alamo Hospice.
